When I began photographing Aircraft at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport in 1989, it became a lifelong obsession with commercial aviation. The first time I visited Sydney KSA in early 1989 specifically to watch the planes with a friend, I still remember seeing one of the last Qantas 747’s at the international terminal in the ‘orange, ochre’ livery with the winged “Flying Kangaroo” on the vertical stabiliser (Tail). At that time the Qantas fleet was undergoing a livery transition to the white with the red tail and kangaroo minus the “wing”. I never got to photograph those aircraft unfortunately.
