The Nineties

Before Jetstar and Virgin, Our only International Airline was Qantas, there were three domestic rivals: Australian Airlines (formerly TAA), Ansett and EastWest. Australian Airlines merged with Qantas in 1992, EastWest ceased operations in 1993 and another start-up (Compass Airlines) had 2 failed attempts to crack the Australian domestic market. A big decade for Australian domestic Air travel.
